Small Business
Since more than 90 percent of the private business establishments in Wichita have fewer than 100 employees, we recognize that small business truly powers the Wichita-area economy. We want to help you solve all your small business problems – from questions about starting a business of your own to going public and beyond. Use the following resources to stay informed and set goals that will drive your business to wherever you want it to go.

Chamber Small Business Programs

The Chamber puts small businesses at the top of our priority list, and our programming and events certainly reflect that. In 2005 alone, we launched three new programs designed specifically to help small businesses stay informed and reach success.

Small Biz Working Lunch is a free educational lunch held once a month, with speakers and topics picked especially for small business owners.

Through our Small Business Awards program, outstanding small businesses in the Wichita area are recognized and showcased at multiple community-wide events. Find out more about this program and the past Top 10 Small Businesses and Small Business of the Year recipients.

The Chamber encourages small business owners and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the free courses we offer through SmallBizU, the first online academy created specifically for the education and training needs of small business employees.

The Visioneering Wichita plan incorporates the thoughtful ideas and conversations of more than 8,000 residents of South Central Kansas, culminating in a dynamic vision for incredible growth in this region by 2024.

Some top goals of this process include:

  • Providing citizens, public and private organizations with the opportunity to adopt shared values, benchmarks, vision and strategies to use in developing our future
  • Facilitating communications within the community so that reality and perceptions are in alignment
  • Creating a strategic plan to ensure a quality of life that encourages our young people to live, learn, work and play in our regional community

Learn more about opportunities for your small business to take part in the vision that has already begun to transform the Wichita community.

Small Business Visit
One of our top priorities is to fully understand and effectively respond to the needs and interests of our small business members. Chamber President and CEO Bryan Derreberry visits a different small business member every month and our communications department writes an article based on the visit.

Read this month's business spotlight with Rapid PSI.

We want to discover your individual histories, future business plans, opinions of our organization and most pressing concerns for Wichita's business environment. We hope this section will not only expose you to fellow small business members, but will also encourage and challenge you with success stories and fresh ideas for taking advantage of Chamber programs and services. Interested in a visit from the Chamber team? Contact Cat Poland at 268-1151.
